A Woman's Place is Everywhere: Groundbreaking Women in Ames History - Women in Government

This exhibit tells the story of local women who stepped out of their expected roles and made an impact in the community. It is a four-part series of displays honoring women who broke barriers in science, business, activism, and government, including Ada Hayden, Rowena Stevens, and Helen LeBaron Hilton. Exhibit supported by the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Community Grant Program.

The Women in Government section of the exhibit features Lee Fellinger, Ann Campbell, and Helen LeBaron Hilton. It is on display at Ames City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, near the first floor staircase off the lobby.

Power + Pluck: Remarkable Women of Story County

This traveling exhibit features stories of women’s suffrage, along with seven groundbreaking women from Story County communities who had significant impact locally and nationally. Click here for more information.

Ames Hi Aiming High Through the Years

These banners include photos and text from our past feature exhibit, "Ames Hi Aiming High Through the Years." There are eight banners - two for each of the first four Ames High School buildings. The exhibit includes stories about academics, athletics, clubs & activities, social life & events, and performing arts during the era students attended each school building. Learn more about this traveling exhibit here.
